Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering

What forms of payment do you take?

We hope to be accepting debt and credit cards in the future, but at this time we are only accepting Paypal. Paypal accounts are a safe way to perform transactions over the internet for both the buyer and the seller.

How long does it take to complete a tail?

The general length of time it takes to get a tail completed and sent is between 6-8 weeks. This length of time is due to our ordering materials once an order is placed, at this time we do not have a stock of materials on hand. Once we can afford to purchase and have stock on hand, this length of time will be shortened. Orders should take no more than 6 weeks to be completed and shipped.

How do I order a mermaid tail?

Orders can be made through this website. Just use the Order form found in the menu bar.

Do I pay all at once?

Full payment is required at the time of order. If you are interested in a payment plan, contact us and we can give you our payment plan options, keep in mind that payment plans will have an additional cost as tails are stored in our private residence until full payment and payment for shipping is received.

I’m ready to order my tail, can I order now?

At this time we are currently taking a limited number of tail orders at this time. Orders are limited to 5 Tails. All orders are completed in the order in which they are received.

I'm not seeing any size selection when ordering a tail, how will you know what size I need/want?

Once you place your order, and payment has cleared, we will contact you to get your measurements. Each tail is custom built to the measurements you provide us. There are several measurements that we will ask you for, and to get the most accurate measurements it is best to have someone help you get your measurements. When getting your measurements, make sure you are standing with your feet together.

How will you know what colors I want my tail to be?

Easy. When we contact you, depending on which tail you have ordered, we will ask what colors you want your tail to be. Painted Neoprene Tails come with up to *3 colors to customize your tail. If you have a specific idea, or you want the color design inspired by something in particular, send us a picture of what you have in mind and we will work up a design sketch for the color design. Once you decide on how you want the color design to look, we can begin working on your tail. Color choices may be changed as long as painting has not already begun, changing color choices does slow down the process though as it requires the Tailmaker to re-sketch the color design for your tail.

If I need my tail sooner, can you make it faster?

If you need the order rushed, there is an additional $200 charge. Rush orders can be completed within 3-4 weeks, instead of the usual 6-8. If the tail is needed sooner than that, please contact me as the additional charge will be raised. When an order is rushed, the order is put at the front of the order line up. If I should receive multiple rush orders, rush orders will be completed in the order they are received.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that we do not keep materials in stock as I run this business from my home. So all materials are ordered on demand. The added charge is to cover all extra shipping charges for expediting material shipping. Please understand that our product time will be less than 2 weeks after materials are received. If you are wanting to put a rush on your order, please contact us before placing your order. If a rush order is placed 2-3 weeks before it is needed, there is no guarantee that we can get it to you in time.

Since you only take so many orders at once, is there a waiting list?

If the “Order Lineup” is full, we will send you a message and let you know that our lineup is full at that time and ask if you would like to be placed on the waiting list. Once we have a slot open up, we will contact the next person in line on the lineup.

Shipping

How much is shipping?

Shipping is based on the weight of each tail, so shipping for each tail may vary. Once your tail order is completed, we will establish the shipping costs and send you an invoice for the shipping costs to your Paypal.

What shipping carrier do you use?

Shipping is dependent on the size of what is being sent. Smaller items, such as jewelry and accessories, will be sent via US Postal Service. We also use UPS and FedEx.  Each tail is insured for the total amount invoiced to cover any and all damages that could potentially occur during the shipping process.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently don't ship internationally. We are researching the requirements to ship orders internationally. Please note that the buyer is responsible for all customs fees, duties, and taxes.

General Tail Questions

Do you sell latex tails?

We do not, and do not plan to, sell any latex products due to potential health hazards associated with the material. Many people are allergic to latex and do not know it.

Some good news: We are currently doing tests with Dragon Skin Silicone (a platinum cure grade silicone, which makes it skin safe) to possibly provide realistic silicone tails in the future.

What kind of tails do you offer?

At this time we are currently only offer 1 (one) type of tail, the Painted Neoprene Tail, which is available to order through this website.

Can you create custom designed tail?

All our tails are completely customizable, to an extent.

How much are your tails?

Our Painted Neoprene Tail starts at $540. Cost of tails goes up from there depending on color choices. (Note: shipping costs are NOT included in the prices.)

How much are extra fins?

At this time we are not offering the option of adding extra fins, but we hope to be able to provide this option in the near future.

Is it extra for colors?

Yes. It is $25 for each additional color.

Can I get a competitor monofin in my tail?

Right now we only have 3 monofin options available. Right now, choices are limited to the Finis Wave (Fits mens 1-7, womens 2-8), the Finis Rapid (Mens 8-12, womens 9-13), or the Oceanika Merfin (Fits up to a womens size 9, not recomended for men as it has a narrow foot pocket). We are also currently testing out So Dive’s Triton, Hydra, and Minos, though those options are not currently available, we hope to be able to offer them as potential options soon. (If you are open to helping us test one of these fins in your tail, please send us a message before ordering)

Do you send order updates?

We do our best to send out regular updates, but please keep in mind that even dealing with 5 orders at a time, things can get very busy and remembering to send out updates simply slip our minds occasionally. Don’t forget you can check out our Facebook page to stay informed on what might potentially be delaying orders.

I do not see the color I want. Can you make a tail with my preferred color?

At this time we can only use the colors we have available, which are the colors we have made available as color options for the tails. We can attempt to mix colors, but we may not be able to get it exact (Though we will try our hardest).

My tail fits tightly. Is this normal?

Yes. Our tails are made to the measurements you provide us, your tails are meant to fit snuggly so it does not slide off while swimming. Please don’t alter your measurements before sending them to us. We double check our measurements before each tail is shipped out and compare them to the measurements your provided us, if the tail does not fit properly it is at no fault of our own.

Is it difficult to swim in a tail?

It is not too hard, and it takes a little while to get used to swimming without being able to kick your feet separately. Remember, you should NEVERswim in a tail alone, always have someone readily available in the case an emergency should arise. There may be risks involved with swimming in tail. We are not responsible for accidents that may occur while using our tails.

I do not like my tail. Can I return it?

Sadly, we cannot accept returns as each tail is made to order. It would be very difficult to resell the tail as someone would have to have the same measurements and want the same colors.

Can you walk in the tails?

Our tails are not walk able. They are created for the main purpose of swimming.

My tail does not fit correctly. What should I do, can I return it?

Every tail that we make is custom made to the measurements you provide us. We follow the measurements given to us. If something looks incorrect, the customer is contacted and asked to re-measure. We check all of our mermaid tails prior to shipment to ensure that the tail matches up with the measurements the buyer provides us. If there is anything incorrect, we fix the issue before the tail is shipped. Occasionall, some customers measure incorrectly. When they receive the tail, it may not fit right, potentially being too large or too short. Unfortunately, we do not take responsibility for the customer’s mistake. If a customer complains about sizing, we check all of our patterns once contacted to try and resolve any issues. If the issue is our fault for whatever reason, we will gladly take it back and fix the issues. If the sizing is not our mistake, we will gladly alter the tail to the correct size for an additional price.

My son/ daughter is still growing. Should I add inches to the length?

No, the materials we use are chosen specifically for their elasticity. The measurements need to be exact for the best fit. Do not add or remove inches. Keep in mind that children are still continually growing and could potentially grow out of their tails within a year.

Why are your tails so expensive?

Our tails are so “expensive” because we use good quality materials. And those materials are not inexpensive.

Can you teach me how to make tails/will you tell me how you make your tails?

We would love to tell you how to make your own tail, but unfortunately this is a business. If we were to tell people how to make their own tails, it would be taking away from our own business. If you are truly interested in making your own tail, there are several locations on the internet that provide basic, to detailed instructions on how to make a tail. But, you will have to find that information on your own.

I've emailed repeatedly with no response, why am I not getting any response?

We apologize for this, we are continually getting swamped with emails on a daily basis. Mostly from a younger age groups asking for a discounted or free tail. We have taken the time to email back and forth with a "Potential client" only to discover they were only 11 so many times we have lost count. We get several emails constantly asking questions that are already answered through our FAQ page, and even on the product page. When you are ready to order, please title your email "WANTING TO ORDER" and include as much information about your order in your email. Or if you have any questions that are truly not answered by the information provided on the website, please feel free to contact us.

If you do have any questions, or suggestions, that are not already answered here you can email us and we will try to get back to you as soon as we can.But if you send us an email that just says "How much are your tails?" you probably won’t get a response. (We get tons of these)
